Chiefs send Tyler to Panthers

The Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs traded defensive lineman Tank Tyler to the Carolina Panthers on Monday night for a fifth-round 2010 draft pick.

Tyler started two games this season at nose tackle before being replaced by Ron Edwards.

A third-round draft pick in 2007, Tyler is the latest of the Chiefs' draft choices from the Herm Edwards era to depart.

Jags want to trade Dennis Northcutt

According to the Jacksonville Times-Union, Jacksonville seeks to trade Dennis Northcutt, one of the longest-tenured receivers remaining on the roster.

Northcutt's age and salary, combined with the addition of veteran Torry Holt and rookies appear to have made the 10-year veteran expendable.

Northcutt signed a five-year, $17 million contract with the Jaguars in 2007 that included a $4.5 million signing bonus. He is 31 and is scheduled to make $2.75 million.

Dolphins Trade Satele

According to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins are going to get a late-round pick since they traded center Samson Satele to the Raiders.

This could replace the pick they dealt to the Jaguars this week for defensive tackle Tony McDaniel.

Late in the season, the Dolphins shifted the 6-foot-3, 295-pound Satele to right guard as Al Johnson took over at center.

Miami signed free agent centers Jake Grove and Joe Berger this offseason.

Johnson signed with the Patriots, but the 6-4, 300-pound Grove, who received a five-year deal worth $29 million, is expected to be the starter.
