Eli Manning looking for Giant payday

Eli Manning is still in line to get one of the most lucrative contracts in NFL history, but according to the New York Daily News, he is just going to have to wait a little longer than expected.

Manning and the Giants remain far apart in their negotiations on a new deal, according to two NFL sources with knowledge of the talks.

According to one source, Manning's agents "want to make him the highest-paid player."

Another source suggested the Super Bowl XLII MVP's initial asking price was up near an average of $20 million per year.

Bruschi undecided

Entering his 14th NFL season, linebacker Tedy Bruschi said that this could be the final year of his career. Then again, it may not.

According to the Boston Globe, Bruschi's contract expires after the 2009 season and he is leaving his options open.

Bruschi, who turned 36 on June 9, is coming off a 2008 season in which he made 71 tackles, fourth on the team.

He started 12 games before a knee injury ended his season on Dec. 7 against the Seahawks. Throughout the year, Bruschi was mostly utilized on first and second down, coming off the field on third down.
