A 10-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker, Lewis would become an unrestricted free agent in three weeks if the Ravens don't sign him to a new contract or use the franchise tag on him.
At the end of the season, owner Steve Bisciotti and linebacker Terrell Suggs brought up the possibility that Lewis might take less money to stay, but Lewis said there would be no discounts.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said he hoped star linebacker Ray Lewis would take a "hometown discount" on his next contract and end his career with the Ravens.
Suggs, Lewis and Scott can become unrestricted free agents at the end of February.
Bisciotti also stated that team wouldn't use the franchise tag on Lewis, but hoped the 10-time Pro Bowl linebacker would re-sign.
If the Ravens use the tag on Suggs again, they would have to pay him 120 percent of his 2008 salary for one season ($10.2million).
