Pacman, Hargrove en route to Detroit?

The Detroit News reports that troubled cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones and Saints DE Anthony Hargrove could both be headed to the Lions.

The story points out that both players met with the team last week and that coach Jim Schwartz mentioned Sunday that both remain possibilities.

Schwartz said they're still in the "information-gathering stage" about Jones, while Lions VP of pro personnel Sheldon White was one of a handful of representatives from different teams that attended his workout in New Orleans last week.

Reggie Bush in free agency

According to the Detroit News the Saints could ask Reggie Bush to restructure his contract or be released if he refuses.

There are a number of teams that could be interested in Bush.

The Seahawks need a running back and who knows Bush better than his former college coach, Pete Carroll, who was hired last month from Southern California.

Bush could provide the Lions with a home-run threat.

It is believed that the 49ers would be interested in Bush as a steady backup to Frank Gore.

Going for perfection

Should the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints focus on keeping the undefeated streaks alive?

According to USA TODAY, CBS' Bill Cowher suggests the big picture — preparing for the postseason — should take precedence over potential regular-season perfection.

Cowher believes that teams should use the games like exhibitions, where the starters play solid football for a half.

Brees hoping for reunion with Tomlinson

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Saints quarterback Drew Brees would love to be reunited with close friend and former teammate LaDainian Tomlinson if the San Diego Chargers cut the former MVP tailback loose.

While discussing Tomlinson's contract standoff, Brees said Tomlinson should stay in San Diego because of what he means to the team, the fans and the community. But he also admitted, "I'm just waiting for the opportunity if he is available to come and snatch him away."

Bush grounded by injury

Saints running back Reggie Bush injured his left knee returning a punt in a 30-7 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints Coach Sean Payton said Bush will likely undergo an arthroscopic examination by orthopedic surgeon James Andrews and could have surgery.

Bush didn't practice last Wednesday or Thursday because of soreness and swelling in his left knee. He missed the final four games of the 2007 season after tearing the posterior cruciate ligament in that knee.

Gramatica could lose his job

According to AberdeenNews.com, Taylor Mehlhaff, the former Aberdeen Central and University of Wisconsin standout, was contacted by the New Orleans Saints.

All indications are that Mehlhaff will now be the Saints kicker come game time on Sunday when New Orleans hosts the Oakland Raiders.

Mehlhaff lost a kicking battle to veteran Martin Gramatica in the preseason, but Gramatica has missed two costly field goals the last two weeks, including one against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

Mehlhaff has been led to believe that the Saints have cut Gramatica and awarded him the job.
