Texans could be interested in LaDainian Tomlinson

USA Today reports that the Houston Texans have been mentioned as a potential destination for former Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson.

Tomlinson has said he wants to join a Super Bowl-caliber team with an established quarterback. Houston is coming off its first winning season, has an explosive offense and maturing defense.

The Texans struggled to run the ball in 2009.

Brees hoping for reunion with Tomlinson

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Saints quarterback Drew Brees would love to be reunited with close friend and former teammate LaDainian Tomlinson if the San Diego Chargers cut the former MVP tailback loose.

While discussing Tomlinson's contract standoff, Brees said Tomlinson should stay in San Diego because of what he means to the team, the fans and the community. But he also admitted, "I'm just waiting for the opportunity if he is available to come and snatch him away."

L.T. may miss rest of playoffs

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, no one in the Chargers organization expects LaDainian Tomlinson to play Sunday at Pittsburgh.

But the Chargers will not place Tomlinson on injured reserve, in the hope that he still could play in the postseason.

Tomlinson's severely strained groin could keep him out the rest of the postseason and require surgery.

Michael Bennett, who was active for the first time Saturday after being acquired on waivers on Nov. 12, carried four times for 24 yards against the Indianapolis Colts and likely will get more work in Pittsburgh.

Darren Sproles had 23 carries for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Chargers forecast looks dim

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, LaDainian Tomlinson said that feels the season slipping away with the maddeningly inconsistent Chargers at 4-6 and running out of time to chase down the suddenly resurgent Denver Broncos (6-4).

Tomlinson spoke of a career closer to its end than its beginning and still without a Super Bowl ring and he won't lie about being scared to come up empty.

But he is not ready to concede 2008.
